Dear Sir,
After reading The Perfect Storm two times I believe your book cries out to be made into a full-length movie. And the sooner the better. I have never read a book that got to me like The Perfect Storm did. I have owned one boat or another for the part of my adult life and your book put me back in my charter fishboat called "The Sundowner" which is a 24 ft slick craft. Most of my boating experience was and still is on Lake Michigan out of Mannistee, Michigan. There is an old saying we use on the Great Lake that goes like this—"you should never look for trouble on the big waters-- it finds you soon enough."
In August, 1987 I had a charter-fishing trip out of Manistee with three people, customers on a salmon outing. The seas were running one to three feet out of the southwest. Within an hour the wind picked up to 65 mph and the seas turned real black and went to twelve to fourteen feet and in a 24ft boat it was almost more than I could handle. We made it back but just barely, the storm came short and east to Detroit were it caused an airplane to crash that afternoon. . . So you can see why your book put me back in my boat. Enclosed is ten dollars for The Perfect Storm Foundation. I don’t know if you will get this letter, but if you do keep the books coming.
